Music from PATRIOT was performed at the glorious Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, in a program of Gershwin, Bernstein, Sondheim, and Rodgers & Hammerstein. L’Orchestre EDF performed before an audience of 1,000 under the direction of Michaël Cousteau, and feauturing young French star Marie Oppert. What a night!

PATRIOT was workshopped at Theater Resources Unlimited. Once more, great feedback from an excellent panel, including Pat Addiss, Cheryl Davis, Peter Filichia, Skip Kennon, and Jim Morgan. Thank you to the brilliant Jackie Schiffer!

PATRIOT was named a Semifinalist in the 2018 Eugene O’Neill National Music Theater Conference.

The social impact media company NationSwell sponsored a reading of PATRIOT at the home of Mike and Sukey Novogratz, followed by a panel discussion on civil rights with Brennan Center lawyer Faiza Patel, Edward Snowden lawyer Ben Wizner, and former CIA lawyer Robert Eatinger. A great cast included Kalyn Schnabel, Matt Leisy, Jon Reinhold, Zachary Prince, Keith Herron, Gina Milo, and Jonas Barranca. Exciting evening for the show!

The leading newspaper in southern Germany, the Suddeutsche Zeitung, gave PATRIOT (then called Believe Me) a rave review: “Full of irony and wit. . . extremely contemporary. . . in the style of the Broadway smash The Book of Mormon.” Wow!

The musical PATRIOT (then called Believe Me) won the first-ever MUT International Music Theatre Competition in Munich, Germany. Six finalists from around the world presented before a live audience and distinguished international jury at the Akademietheater. Big day for PATRIOT!

Brahms CD Launched in Steinway Hall

Universal Music has released a 4-hands CD of the complete Brahms Hungarian Dances and Waltzes, with Ilann and his mom, Israela Margalit.

Ilann performed Chopin at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., in a star-studded celebration of The Paris Review and George Plimpton. Billy Collins, America’s Poet Laureate, also read his poetry for guests including Justices Sandra Day O’Connor, Stephen Breyer, and Ben Bradlee.
